The general welfare of a nation's people is a better indication of that nation's greatness than are the achievements of its rulers, artists, or scientists.

Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim. In developing and supporting your position, be sure to address the most compelling reasons and/or examples that could be used to challenge your position.

A nation is what people who live there, not the achievements of some people. A nation can be called great when every individual in that nation can live happily and with believe that they have government. The achievements of scientists, rulers, and artists may increase the status of the nation in the world, but they can’t make their own people happy. So, I completely agree with the given statement.

Let us consider Russia as our example here, it is a nation which have great military power and nuclear power among all over the world.  Even though it stood top in the world in all aspects, now it is invading Ukraine to increase their powers which lead Russian people into crisis with all sanctions announced by other countries. Now, where all of its power and greatness gone when it is throwing all of their citizens into problems and ruining their life, will anyone call Russia as a great nation?, not at all.

The achievements of rulers, artists, or scientists may make the nation proud that they are inventing and doing something great which will be useful to print their names and innovations in the first page of newspaper, but it won’t be helpful to all people in the nation. Those innovations and achievements can be helpful when they are used for the welfare of the people of the nation. A nation can be great when each person in there can live with peace and with full support by government. A Government or a ruler work is to see well-being of people in their society and it’s their responsibility to maintain peace and 

I conclude that, a nation’s greatness is defined by the life of every single person in the nation and there is no use of status of nation when the people in that nation are suffering.

Have you ever been to any island? Yes, I have! Actually, I lived on an island for 3 months back in 2016. My mother was offered to work at a resort for 2 years, so I joined them there for 3 months.  Isl and life was quite an interesting experience! Are there any islands in your country? Yes, there are. There is one famous island called X, famed for its  crystal clear  water and white sands. I’ve heard the pagodas are very interesting to visit there, as well.
