IELTS WRITING TASK 2 - ADVANATAGES & DISADVANTAGES ESSAY - SANIA BEGUM

In the future all cars, buses and trucks will be driverless. The only people travelling inside these vehicles will be passengers. Do you think the advantages of driverless vehicles outweigh the disadvantages?

In the coming years, all the vehicles will be driverless and the individuals travelling inside these will be passengers. I believe, the benefits of driverless vehicles outweigh the drawbacks , which I am going to  discuss in the subsequent paragraphs.

On the one hand, the advantages of driverless vehicles are, firstly, the people in the automated car will lead their way in a more comfortable manner, they don’t need to drive by themselves and they can enjoy their ride with others and can feel more relaxed. Secondly, one can save a lot of money in the view of the fact that, drivers won’t be appointed for driving anymore or no need of driver, hence funds will be saved by not investing on the fees of a driver on a monthly basis. Thirdly, there will be less chance of accidents to be happened, as the self moving vehicles follow traffic rules strictly, so , there is no fear of road accidents. Fourthly, there won’t be any burden on the driving person, as if he is tired or drunk, driverless vehicles drive by itself so that the passengers will set leisure from any burden and they might be more comfortable and stress free. And lastly, as per my knowledge, self-regulating vehicles will be boon for elderly people, since they don’t need to drive their vehicle and It will be a better option for every human being.

On the other hand, there are few negative points of driverless vehicles, as such, primarily, it will increase the unemployment among the needy people, as there is no need of driver which  will lead to jobless situations and thus the poor people suffer due to advanced automobiles. Furthermore, there might be a risk of vehicle to be hacked by the hackers, as it will be totally based on a computer system and there will be no such security to save your automated vehicle from being hacked and also the computer nerd can misuse it. In addition, if one has driverless vehicle, then he/ she need to invest so much of funds for its maintenance and it might be costly due to its high range of features.

To sum up, this kind of vehicles would be beneficial for everyone and we can also expect some of the downside of these programmed vehicles. It can be a luxury and expensive item and most of the individuals can’t afford it. Keeping in mind about the positive points which are more in the picture, I believe, these vehicles should come into force as soon as possible.
