IELTS WRITING TASK 2 - ADVANATAGES & DISADVANTAGES ESSAY - SHIVA AKSHITH KUMAR

The number of people working online from home has grown in some countries. What advantages and disadvantages can come of this trend?

From the generation of millennials to Gen Z, the evolution of technology has made human’s job much easier. People have started working at their own comfort and convenience rather than working according to the rules and regulations set by the Companies. Does this have any negative impact on the quality of work offered by the companies to their clients?

From the past few years, Due to the break out of some unplanned pandemic, companies were left with no choice but to choose work from home as the only option for their soldiers to win in this battle. Working from home has few valuable positives which came out of the blue and unknowingly lead to the increase in company’s revenue. Firstly, it helped employees to save their money from their monthly income and allowed them to survive in these difficult times. Secondly, employees have become more productive and started adapting to this hybrid model of working. Lastly, companies have started hiring more employees due to a drastic cut in lease and other expenses which has slowly started curing an everlasting disease in our country known as “un-employment”.

According to the Newton’s third law, “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction” and the same thing applies for the ongoing “work from home” trend. There are few cons which have not come into the light due to some outweighing benefits. The major drawback of this comfortable way of working is increase in stress levels and mental health issues. Employees have started feeling isolated and lonely due to absence of face to face interactions and friendly working environment. Few employees who live in rural areas; where there is no stable internet connection will definitely have a negative impact on their work. Companies have increased the number of working hours while the amount paid to their employees is kept fixed.

In the end, I would like to conclude by stating that working from home has more positives for both employees and companies but there are some minuses for employees which can be addressed and solved by their respective employees for more productivity and to enhance employee-employer relations.
