IELTS WRITING TASK 2 - DISCUSS BOTH VIEWS - GOUTHAM REDDY

Some people think that intelligence is innate, while others think we can improve our intelligence through learning. Discuss both sides and give your opinion.

Is intelligence inborn or is it nurtured through learning? On the one hand, several people believe that intelligence is inherent for infants, while, on the other hand, some individuals trust that learning and acquiring knowledge at schools is immensely essential to arouse one’s brainpower. In my subsequent paragraphs, I will elucidate both these schools of thought along with my viewpoint at the end.

To commence with, intelligence is certainly innate, and the prime reason for this kind of functioning is that if the parents are clever and canny, then in all likelihood, there is a mammoth probability of children acquiring their mother or father genes which lead them to possess a higher level intelligent quotient. For instance, the IQ level of one of the most celebrated physicists, Albert Einstein, was on sky-high. Similarly, his offspring also had a shockingly big-time intelligent quotient. Thus, we can deduce how intelligence is inbred and can be earned as a parental gift.

On the flip side, while intelligence is innate, it does not mean that intelligence cannot be gained. Through schooling, a lad or lass can own a manifold set of standard and boundless subjects and comprehensions, which aids to progress as an astute personality at his/her respective profession. In other words, apprehending various courses and incorporating the relevant prerequisite skills at appropriate centers of learnings, can offer gigantic wisdom and intelligence. It is significant that not only being extremely rational but also, people need to be very informed in different fields and inculcate the necessary commitment and hard-working attributes for effective advancement towards their passion.

To conclude, in my opinion, intelligence has a notable and indispensable role in everyone’s life. However, even if we were blessed with a qualified natural intelligence from our parents and ancestors, it is highly coveted to own a trait of learning various theses, thereby perceiving diverse productive skills and awareness across different subjects, which may project us as the proficient people with real intelligence.
