IELTS WRITING TASK 2 - DIRECT ESSAY - ARAVIND REDDY PALLREDDY

Most people think that truth should be objective rather than subjective when it comes to news.

Do you think all news is true?

What is the function of a newspaper?

In this contemporary world, the media plays a remarkable role in upgrading general knowledge to the common masses but indeed, it also influences their opinion to a greater extent. Considering this fact, many people opine that news must be based on the fact. Conversely, others advocate that it should be personalized. In this essay, I will pen down the reliability of different sources of news and also an in-depth analysis about the prime objective of a newspaper.

To embark upon, the utmost goal of news media is to reveal the truth and bring out the reality about the news in the public. However, nowadays, most of the journalists are not doing justice to their profession. Unfortunately, most of the news channels are providing news that hugely affected the slew of factors such as, political pressure, corruption and public demand. In other words, most of the media channels are concerned about TRP rather than showing actual reality. For instance, recently a news channel telecasted a news about the ruling party which later was quashed by other news channels providing with certain evidence, thereby,  it is unwise to trust news provided by any media.

In addition, the predominant purpose of the newspaper is to provide awareness across the nation. In fact, it is one of the best sources to fulfil aforementioned objectives simply, because even today every citizen is showing interest to read the newspaper rather than watching it on television or internet. The reason behind this vogue is that it is still the most economical, easily accessible and the best way to utilise spare time. Furthermore, newspapers deliver news about economic growth of countries, sports, entertainment, trade and commerce. Moreover, through newspapers, every individual will be able to get a clear idea and understanding of what is happening in their country and in the whole world.
