IELTS WRITING TASK 2 - ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES- BHAVYA HARIKA

NEW HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES HAVE RESULTED IN MORE FREE TIME FOR WOMEN AND HAS ENABLED THEM TO WORK AND RUN A HOME WITH DEPENDENT CHILDREN. WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES FOR A FAMILY WHEN THE MOTHER WORKS? DO YOU THINK THE DISADVANTAGES OUTWEIGHS THE ADVANTAGES?


Modern household appliances have reduced the chores of women and resulted in more leisure time for themselves which helped them take time for their career and jobs while running home and taking care of their children. Although I accept there are some disadvantages, there are far more advantages.

Admittedly, there are few drawbacks when a mother works. Firstly, she will not be able to spend time with her family and children after returning from work as she will be tiresome. Secondly, she does not have much energy to prepare her children’s favourite snacks which she used to make and keep it ready even before they returned from school/college. Lastly, she will be having work stress and should always carry the burden of both work and home on her shoulders alone if she does not juggle both the tasks with a proper balance.

 Nevertheless, despite all these negative points, I think it will be a great task for a mother to work as well while looking after her family. If she is very keen in working, her tenacity will lead her to the path of success. In other words, if she knows how to maintain balance both work life and household life, there is no point in pointing out her cons. She can lend a helping hand to her family in terms of financial affairs. She will become a role model for her children to study hard and work hard for themselves and for family as well. Also, she need not hesitate in the times of need of money as she owns the money she earned with her hard work and determination.

 In conclusion, the self-confidence a woman gains by working, building her own status in the family and society, an example she sets for her children outweighs any of the disadvantages that may result from the mother wanting to work while running home and family.

Have you ever been to any island? Yes, I have! Actually, I lived on an island for 3 months back in 2016. My mother was offered to work at a resort for 2 years, so I joined them there for 3 months.  Isl and life was quite an interesting experience! Are there any islands in your country? Yes, there are. There is one famous island called X, famed for its  crystal clear  water and white sands. I’ve heard the pagodas are very interesting to visit there, as well. I haven’t been yet, but I dream of going there for a  girls getaway (when women go on a trip together)  sometime in the future Do you want to live on an island if you have a chance? Not really.
